Guide Para sa mga OFWs na Biyaheng Taiwan

Guide for OFWs Bound to Taiwan

DON’Ts

>Iwasang magkaroon ng sipon/ubo/lagnat bago bumiyahe. Bakit?

>Over NT$60,000 in notes ay bawal dalhin sa biyahe, except may permit po kayo from Central Bank of China.

DOs

Kalimitan ay maa-activate after three days.

Read: Interview Tips for OFWs (Taiwan-bound)

Facts:

>Susunod naman ang Medical Exam on the same day(usually).

Aabutin lang ng more or less two hours.

Maligayang Pagdating!

Welcome sa Taiwan!

Interview Techniques for OFWs (Taiwan-bound)

Interview Techniques for Filipinos

Q: Why do you want to work in Taiwan?

A: I’ve been hearing a lot of positive feedback about Taiwan. A peaceful country, beautiful sceneries, stable economy, nice weather, and friendly people. I also want to have a job to support myself and my family. Those are the reasons why I would like to work in Taiwan.

Q: Why should we hire you?

A: You should hire me because I’m flexible. I can be a team player and I can also work on my own with minimal supervision. (State your skills and knowledge. Talk only about the important ones and those that are related to the job you’re applying).

Q: How would you deal with homesickness while you are in Taiwan?

A: (Option 1) I’m an independent person with a positive mindset. I always think of my family as an inspiration. Moreover, modern apps like Facebook and Viber are readily available for keeping in touch with my loved ones. (Option 2: There are lots of Filipinos in Taiwan, so it’s like we’re living in the Philippines as well. For this reason, I conclude that homesickness won’t be one of my problems).

“I’ve been working far away from my hometown for ages(matagal na). For that span of time, I’ve learned and acquired the right techniques about dealing with homesickness. I believe that homesickness will not be one of my problems anymore.”

Q: Tell me about your work experience/s.

A: State only the important and relevant ones to the job you are applying for. Huwag paligoy-ligoy. Mas maganda kung DETAILED BUT SHORT. Kung wala ka pang work experience/s, just say, ” I’m like a sponge that is always ready to absorb and learn anything that is useful for my job. I have an open mind and am very willing to adopt new skills and knowledge.”

Beautiful Taiwan

More Interview Techniques and Questions:

Q: What are your expectations regarding Taiwanese people?

A: Most of them are honest, humble, warm, and friendly people. They are generous and they love offering gifts, especially foods. That is what I always hear from my friends/relatives that are working in Taiwan as well as from my own research(from the internet, for example).

Q: What if your Taiwanese supervisor won’t be able to communicate in English?

A: Initially, I will use signaling (senyas) and as I progress through my job, I will do my best to learn Mandarin Chinese. I will regularly watch the free language tutorials on Youtube. According to my research, Traditional Chinese is primarily used in Taiwan. Temporarily, I’ll also ask for assistance from my senior Filipino colleagues if they are just around.

Q: Tell us about yourself.

A: Sabihin ang name and age. Puwede ring sabihin kung single ka or married. State your positive qualities, of course. State your hobbies or the things that you love doing during your free time. Masayahin ka ba or mahilig magbasa? Mahilig ka ba sa Cycling, Hiking or Chess? Mahilig ka ba mag-exercise, mamasyal or mag-Yoga? Bakit mo ito ginagawa? What’s the purpose? Make it short and clear but has full of sense.

Q: Are you willing to work overtime?

A: Yes, if my job requires, then I am willing. If it is for the good of the company, then yes. I’ll always be ready to work overtime.

Q: Did someone refer you to apply here in our company?

Q: You said that you have a son/daughter. Are you sure that you are 100% willing to go abroad just to have this job?

A: Yes I am willing! I love him/her so much that I’m doing this for his/her sake. This is for his/her future. Besides, my husband/mother(or kung sino man ang mag-aalaga) will surely take care of him/her. I will also ensure constant communication with them by using Messenger on Facebook.

Q: What is Cleanroom?

A: A cleanroom is a controlled environment that has a low level of pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles, and chemical vapors.

This question was actually asked of me during my interview.

Q: You said that you finished your three-year contract in your last company(Taiwan), now my question is, “Why don’t you want to go back to the same company?”.

A: I accomplished a technical course and my last job was not actually related to it. I’m applying to your company because according to my research, my knowledge is applicable to yours(company). I also would like to gain new skills. I really like Taiwan and for that reason, I would love to go back.

Guess what? Pasado ako TWO times!

DON’T!

These are the common interview techniques and questions of the interviewers.

INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES
Interview Techniques for OFWs (Taiwan bound)

More interview techniques:

(“NI HAO” in Mandarin Chinese means Hello.)

>Wear neat attire. Kalimitan ay plain white T-shirt ang required.

>Be clean and fresh looking.

May sense.

>Be DIRECT in answering questions. Huwag paligoy-ligoy.

>Bago umalis ay magpasalamat for the interview. (Salamat in Mandarin Chinese is “XIE-XIE”.)

>Smile and nod slightly. FYI, Taiwanese people nod like the Japanese(bow). Tumatango po ang mga Taiwanese bilang paggalang at as a sign of humility or pagpapa-kumbaba.

Take a deep breath and hold for at least five seconds. Do this for at least five times.

Do your best!

GOOD LUCK!

A word of advice:

Huwag mawalan ng pag-asa kapag hindi nakapasa. This is not yet the end of the world. Sabi nga nila, there is always room for improvements.
