Suicide Prevention (for OFWs)

Suicide Prevention

Anong reason at details? Sorry, but we’ll not dig deeper into that, and may her soul rest eternally in peace.

DOs

Go to Church. It doesn’t matter kung anong religion ka aattend. Just go to church ang pray. Kung may kasama kang pupunta, mas maigi. You can also join their activities if you want to, like winter camps, board games, treasure hunts or kahit ano pang church activites. Get involved. Are you not religious? Meditate. Mag-search ka sa YouTube. Maraming free guided meditation lessons/recordings doon.

Read. Read a book or a magazine, or kahit ano na uplifting or nakaka-ganda ng mood. Example is Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude. Just use Google or Google Play.

Listen to Music. Makinig ng mga masasayang kanta. Iwasan ang mga malulungkot. Marami niyan sa YouTube.

Manood ng videos sa Youtube. Mag-search ng mga comedy o masasayang Vlogs. Visit the channel of Loyd Cadena. Tignan natin kung hindi ka matatawa. You can also watch movies.

Be with positive people. Follow also prominent and positive personalities in social media kagaya nina Chinkee Tan at Francis Kong.

Pay particular attention to what you eat. Have a balanced diet. You are what you eat, sabi nga nila.

Go to a Spa.  Have a warm bath. Have a relaxing massage. Enjoy!

Find a new hobby. Mag-bike ka. Learn to swim or play the guitar kung hindi ka marunong. Gumala ka. Do whatever your heart desires, kahit ano. Create a blog/vlog, sumakay ka sa roller coaster, mag-exercise o di kaya’y buy a DSLR, drone, etc. Do it, as long as you’re not inflicting harm to others. Buhay mo yan, diyan ka sasaya. Go!

Here, you’ll meet new friends ang like-minded people na mahilig gumala kung gusto mo rin ang Travelling.

Get enough rest/sleep.

Visit HOPE Worker’s Center.

Taiwan Lifeline Hotlines-credits

“Taiwan Lifeline has been operating for nearly 50 years. The local chapters not only provide 24-hour online live call service (1995), but through working with communities and earning trust, have also become the Government’s best partner in suicide prevention, mental health, underprivileged support, and other social welfare services. The Chairman of the Lifeline Association, vice president of Taichung Veterans General Hospital Chia-yi Branch Huang Min-wei, comments that the theme of this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day: Working Together to Prevent suicide, portrays exactly what the entire Taiwan Lifeline focus the efforts on.

DON’Ts

Iwasang mapag-isa. Be with a friend or with your partner always kung mayroon kang recurring suicidal thoughts.

Iwasan ang pag-intake ng intoxicating substances like drugs and alcohol. These substances have temporary uplifting effect and only work short-term.Kung aabusuhin mo, in the long run ay ipapahamak ka ng mga ito. Also, say NO to smoking.

Avoid negative people. How to spot them? Beware of these types of people. Mag-ingat. Weed them out of your life, regardless of who/what they are.

Do not be idle.
